Long Bio

Ruin and Reverie is a progressive metal project led by Seattle guitarist and composer Peri Rocha. The debut album The Seed of Chaos is co-written and performed with legendary vocalist Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Redemption, A-Z) — a collaboration that anchors the record in one of progressive metal's most recognizable voices.

Across ten interconnected tracks, the album chronicles humanity's final chapter on Earth and its first steps into the unknown — exploring the psychological, political, and cosmic weight of uprooting an entire species in search of a new home among the stars.

Heavy and melodic. Intricate and cinematic. Urgent and introspective. The record blends odd-meter compositions, soaring vocal harmonies, and cinematic arrangements into a journey that feels epic, immersive, and deeply human.

The album's philosophical foundation is a 2022 essay by Peri Rocha titled Humankind Was an Accident. The album title is taken directly from a line in that essay: "Maybe we are the seed of chaos."

The Seed of Chaos arrives July 3, 2026, preceded by two singles: Part VI: Without Night, Without Day (June 5) and Part IV: Into the Nothing (June 19). Released independently via CD Baby.
