Ruin and Reverie is a progressive metal project led by Seattle guitarist and composer Peri Rocha — built on intricate compositions, soaring vocal melodies, and cinematic arrangements that sit at the intersection of heavy and melodic.

The debut album The Seed of Chaos is co-written and performed with legendary vocalist Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Redemption, A-Z), anchoring the record in one of progressive metal's most recognizable voices. The lineup also features Eleni Nota on drums (Ankor, Nervosa; live credits with Tesseract and Thy Art Is Murder), Alexandre Panta on bass (Hibria, Noturnall), and Flavio Sallin on keys (The Heathen Scythe). The record is produced, mixed, and mastered by Rodrigo Oliveira (Korzus, Dharma Studios), with cover art by Jonas Santos.

Across ten interconnected tracks, the album chronicles humanity's final chapter on Earth and its first steps into the unknown — exploring the psychological, political, and cosmic weight of leaving everything behind. Heavy and melodic. Intricate and cinematic. A journey designed to be heard front-to-back.

The project's philosophical foundation comes from a 2022 essay Peri wrote — Humankind Was an Accident — a meditation on cosmic luck, mass extinction, and the human need to find new homes.

The Seed of Chaos arrives on July 3, 2026, preceded by two singles: Part VI: Without Night, Without Day on June 5, and Part IV: Into the Nothing on June 19.
